Tidbits and pieces for a windy Tuesday...

The way the wind is whipping around today, I'm not sure if we are going to have Illinois up here in WI, or if WI is blowing across the pond to MI! Either way...it's a windy, windy kind of day, this first full day of autumn. And like those pesky squirrels, we quilters are scurrying around getting our UFOs in order *VBS* I'm so thrilled to have 59 of you wonderful gals keeping me company in my efforts. It can't be me, I'm sure its YOU, but I'm actually happy working on some UFOs for a change..thank you for that!! And speaking of UFOs, the Sawtooth Star is all ready for that October baby! I'm just trilled to mark it "DONE", as of Sunday evening. My DD#1 will pick it up next time she comes for a visit, probably around the time of my birthday in early October. Here's the full view...
and a closeup in case you wonder how I tied it. I'm not crazy about the way the ties look, but I know the baby won't mind. DD loves those puffy batts, and I'm not about to try machine quilting that!
This one is the one I thought was NEXT up on my list...but guess what? I looked and looked for it on Sunday and couldn't find it anywhere! I just hate those senior moments when the place I was sure I put something is empty and the 'thing' is missing! Well, I didn't waste any time at all....
I simple reached for a hanger and pull out this one. I knew it needed a border and I don't have enough of any of those fabrics(Thimbleberries) to make one. I considered a pieced border and decided against it. I really DON'T like the quilt(51" square) THAT much. So I found a piece of batting, sewed some odd bits of flannel(a donation)together, and machine quilted it on Sunday...totally! I even got the binding cut and sewn on. But I wasn't happy with the amount of quilting, so its been tucked into my hoop and I am doing a bit of utility quilting near the center of each block....25 in all, so not too bad. In the meantime, of course the VIP blue and 4 patches emerged, so it can be next! I've added a few more names to our UFO countdown list and the number of UFOs to complete is getting impressive. I really believe we'll do it!! There is no way I could finish up all of mine by the years end, but I'm going to make a good dent in them!!

Just keep plugging away at the list. That is what I'm doing. I have one finish and am working on the second: a verrrrry large king sized quilt with miles of binding. After that one is another quilt that needs binding. Funny thing is that these 2 aren't even on my UFO list, so I think I'll have more than 3 finishes before New Years Eve.

Hey, one done for me. This is fun. I'm busy on a couple non-quilting projects but soon will get back at it.

I just left a comment on your August 25th (my birthday) post saying I would like to participate in the challenge. I'm hoping to get at least 3 UFO's crossed off of my list by New Year's Eve
