Fat Cat City...

can't you just imagine a quilt named that???For the 4th,5th or 6th day the furnace is doing double duty to ward off the -20 degrees we are having. Still a -6 as I write this, but the sun is shining brightly. The siding on my little unit groans and creaks as the tempertures drop at night. It makes Ebony nervous, but when nothing terrible appears, she goes back to sleep, dreaming of warmer days and grasshoppers to catch.
I finished up the top with some of Julie's Orphan blocks( blue hourglasses across the top) yesterday. Today I am working on a scrappy flannel backing for it. It's time consuming work, using up the odd size pieces, but in the end its worth it. I feel very "green" as I cut and stitch. I think I will probably tie this one. The block layout is very irregular and would slow me down quite abit if machine quilted. I pretty much only do "in the ditch", and my Pfaff is still on the fritz. I had bought a roll of poly batt from JoAnn's back in November, so I'm all set in that department also. I think I will brave the cold today and go into town for milk, etc. I haven't been outside the house since putting out the garbage can on Monday evening. Brrrrrr...hope you are all warm and cozy with good music or film and stuff to stitch with.P.S. If you are wondering what quilt top I am talking about, pop over to the Orphan Train and check it out *VBS*.

Ebony looks like she is wishing the weather would warm up and the birds will come again. Stay warm and enjoy your quilting.

I wish we could get our big black cats together! I wonder if we could tell them apart!

I too stayed in as much as possible...felt a bit guilty today as stayed in my warm pj's. Who knew it would get so cold in Mississippi?

What a lovely kitty. I think Fat Cat City is a wonderful name for a quilt! I am always chilly here, but when I hear about temps that low, I really must count myself lucky!!
Cheers,
Dionne

Ebby's not fat- she's fluffy :)
and cuddly just like Moose.
It's been bitter here too! But we might make a balmy 25* tomorrow! Regular heatwave :)

Hi Finn! It hasn't been nearly as cold here as it is where you are but I've been holed up in my little nest, not even venturing out into blogland. So sorry to read of your friend's passing. I still have that orphan top you sent me; haven't done a thing with it except to enjoy it ;- ) But you know how that goes. One of these days it will float to the top and get the attention it deserves. Always sending you warm thoughts and wishes...

Hello you. Sorry I haven't been over to see you recently, but been mega busy in this part of the world. Getting excited about the beginning of a new beginning for the good old US of A and hoping that you are keeping warm.

I love love love your header photo. As I type this Miss Magic is snuggled up under a denim quilt - between quilt and duvet.

Keep warm.

Very big hugs.
