on a Monday. One of my favorite places to buy fabric was having a St. Patrick's Day Sale. Jean and I decided on a road trip to do some "stash enhancement". That's NOT a make-over, just improving what you have *VBS* And we did! Naturally there was a coupon! A 50% off coupon on a select group of fabrics, including quilting fabric.
And on children's flannel! *VBS* The flannel pieces are the robins egg blue with the toddlers and the pale yellow with pink pigs. Both will become burp cloths. Most of my purchases were 1 yard cuts, since the price w/coupon was $1.50 a yard.
A few of the fabrics were the regular price of $3.99 and on those I got a half yard...4 of them, I think. The largest amount I got was 2 1/4 yds of the African Village print. Several of the 1 yard cuts are for pillowcases for the grandsons...the racing cars for example, the tiger fabric, and maybe the monkeys on yellow. I wasn't too nervous about the final bill, but I was thrilled when the register ended its toil at $53.60. My savings with the coupon was $43.00...really amazing!! It's a big fabric purchase for me. I haven't bought any fabric since my small purchase back in November when I had eye surgery. And I received some FQs for Christmas, which I love but am subject to the givers choices.
I decided that even though I'm mostly frugal about everything, it was ok for me to stimulate the ecomony just a little. We also picked up my cleaned up Pfaff, so I'm totally back in business *VBS* Oh yes, the store was Mill Ends Fabric in Eau Claire, WI. The pictures will enlarge if you'd like a closer look.
***OK, some 'fessin' up to do here. Someone in particular and a very good friend, took serious note of my intended "cuts" and "pink slipping". So, I will confess all *VBS*. As of today I have a heaping box(which I will show you tomorrow)of fabric, culled from my stash, and destined to be chopped into strips!! And as for the "pink slips"...oh yes, oh my...those fabric were put on short notice that they were off to live with a new quilting lady in AZ. She doesn't blog but she makes quilts for people who need them. I was delighted to have a chance to share the wealth and spread the scraps around...ok, am I absolved??? And if you don't know Michele, please DO visit her Frugal Friday party at her blog, With Heart and Hands, A Quilting Journey. *VBS*

I find it such a treat to go choose fabric "once in a while" -- sort of like other treats, too often it looses its "treat" factor. Sounds like you had great fun and will make good use of the new peices.
I'm frugal in other areas of my life so that I can spend on our hobbies. Great finds and what great deals.
what a fabulous shopping time you had-great savings and some fun fabric to play with...good for you!
Certainly some pretty fabrics...you made some excellent choices.
Enjoy the weekend!♥♥♥
You little teaee, you! I KNEW you were at the Frugal Friday party after all. I just didn't recognize you in that African dancing finery(my particular favorite) while swinging from the trees, tweeting like a red, red robin and carrying all those fun fabrics as you danced around. You and your frugal coupon were a very good team, indeed. .Miss Frugal Finny Fun!
I really like all the fabrics you bought and what a deal...you did good girl!!
oooooooooooooooooo what fun stuff!!!! I'd have been right there with you finding all sorts of goodies. keep showing us the sewing progress. I really enjoy it!!
Look at all those colors. It's Spring.
Best regards,
Darilyn
Hurrah for fabric fat quarters. I picked up a couple last weekend, and already used up one of them on my Peace wall hanging.
