Baby A seems to be holding her own. It's been a very bumpy ride since last week, but we are making headway.
The medication that the University drs. felt might work, didn't. On to plan B, no luck there either, but they still weren't willing to do a liver biopsy if another avenue might work. The light at the end of the trouble seemed to come from new blood work. Apparently she has a genetic condition that doesn't allow her to process the proteins found in milk. A switch to a synthetic product was made and she is keeping it down. So far, so good. What strikes this old granny so funny is that last week, on the first night of this scare, I suggest she might not be a "milk" baby. That she might need soy or goat milk or another substitute. Which, of course I would have tried long ago. So many children are lactose intolerant these days, why not consider that?? Finally, they did and we are keeping out fingers crossed and waiting for a weight gain. Luckily she began life at nearly 8 pounds and had a little to sustain her. Thank you very much for all the prayers, petitions and good wishes. I'm sure they went from your lips to God's ear and He smiled on us. Big hugs, Finn

SO glad she's doing better - keeping her in prayer!
Oh thank heavens, I am so surprised they did not think that first, commen sense not sceince is sometimes the answer. I will keep her in my prayes and hope that this is the answer. So glad they did not have to do the liver. Hope and prayers are with you.
Ohh...so glad to hear... will still keep her a little extra in my mind..:o)
I'm so glad to hear that she is doing better. Will continue to pray.
So glad she's doing better...big sigh of relief...I'll keep sending those good thoughts.
So glad to hear your good news. Hope she continues to make good improvement.
Glad to hear your good news...
Hope she continues to improve by the minutes...
Hugs
Finn! This is what happened to my baby brother. I just remembered that. I was 14 when it all happened so I don't recall the details but he was switched to Goats Milk and things got better. Anyway, this is about Baby and not my brother. I'm happy for the improvement and I smiled knowing Gma knows best all along...
I'm so glad she is doing better. I think more dr's should listen to intuition.
I'm so glad she is doing better. I was one of those babies too. I can only 'do' non-fat' dairy and not a whole lot of it. I don't mind, tho, 'cause a lot of the fattening stuff is dairy.
Great news that the baby is doing better. I am glad it was something "simple" that can be fixed.
So glad to hear she is doing better and I'm glad they held off on the biopsy until they tried less drastic things! I meant to comment when you first posted about her hospitalization but she has been in my thoughts and prayers and will continue to be.
So glad to hear the good news.
Thank goodness! Big hug Finn, now you can all work on just loving that little girl :)
That is wonderful news Finn! A sigh of relief... Hopefully she will indeed start gaining...
Grandma knows what to consider first... 8-)
Soo very glad to hear the lil' darlin' will soon be on the mend.
all the best wishes to the sweet baby and her family
Whew!!! Sometimes the solution is so simple...glad it was in this case, Finn.
xoxoxo
I hope the news gets better each day. Take care.
So happy things are looking up. Best wishes for her and your family.
It's always the last thought that works... right? So happy things are better. Hope the little one continues to do well.
Prayers still to all!
That's good news, Finn.
Hooray for Baby A. Sometimes I think we put too much faith in medical science and not enough in good old fashioned common sense.
Thank heavens! God made grandmas for a reason -- now we just need to get others to listen to us. Prayers continue for Baby A to thrive.
Great news Finn. I've been thinking of you and hoping for a turn for the better.
That's good news to read. Will keep her in my prayers. I wasn't a milk baby either. The inconveniences of that will be small in her life once she gets over this initial episode.
Such wonderful news!
Yeah! My Nana was allergic to milk and handed that down to 3 of my siblings. Pin-pointing the problem is the biggest issue... now Baby A can get the foods she needs to grow & thrive! Great news!
Cheers! Evelyn
