...not a creature was stirring...

and certain not my fearless feline. All she needs is a bit of sunshine and a place to park her belly. It's that old favorite snoozing place...snow outside the window and a full belly in the chair. She laid on the floor at my feet today, on her back, in her best "corpse" pose and for all the world, she looked like a black watermelon with ears and a tail...LOL. Luckily no mirror are at her level.
Along with ships and shoes and sealing wax, it's time to talk about our New Years Eve UFO Countdown. The tally is growing, perhaps not as well or as fast as last year, but still, very impressive. I tallied them up last evening, and we stood 98 completed UFO's. And then this morning I got a delighful email from Mrs. Moen, who has not only finished her pledged 5, but another 14, bringing her up to 19 completed UFOs!!! Really outstanding work, and she joins the rank of Carol and Michele, our over achievers *VBS* Well done ladies!! My hats off to you!
The day was fairly mild, mid 20s, and I braved the crowds to get a bit of the preparation shopping done. You know the ham, extra eggs, holiday nuts for a snack dish, candy, etc. Other than some prescriptions to fill and one letter to mail, it was all about what we will be eating next week. And I'm tired tonight, but I got it done, carried in and the car tucked into the garage again. Freezing rain possible tonight into tomorrow. Don't you just love shopping in the open market with all those Dickins type people??? *VBS* Many were buying big fat geese in true Brit fashion.

And of course everyone was on the lookout for their favorite version of Father Christmas. I was raised a Santa Claus girl, but I do find myself attracted by the Father Christmas characters. Must be my English blood....LOL. Hope everything is "jolly and bright" in your corner of the world.

Oh, Ebby looks So cute...she reminds me of a little rounded (but still sleek) Alaskan seal!

And my tally is actually up a couple more plus a couple more! But I have to bind them before I count them ;) I'll email by New Year's Eve!

I've made so many things I wish I was doing what Ebby is!

Love the kitty picture. They can come up with some interesting poses, can't they?

I prefer Father Christmas over the traditional Santa Claus myself.

I thought I left a message on your last post with my favorite Christmas songs and report of a finish, but now I can't find it.

So let's make it 99.
Here's my post--picture is towards the bottom:

I bet you are glad you got that bit of running done and out of the way...especially since the weather is on the nasty side.

Take care - sew, sleep and eat...

Hi Finn,
I love your description of Ebby as a black watermelon. We've got a cat that fits that description too, but in grey.

Next week I'll do my holiday grocery shopping too. I'm looking forward to the cooking and of course the eating. Enjoy the holiday season.

Ohhh Dear Ebby - being called a 'black watermelon with ears and tail' - I am sure she was just showing a new yoga move where you just stand still. Of course after awhile you are meant to pick her up and give her a big hug...
These creatures are master of relaxation...
keep well and keep warm

Well first off your posts very often make me feel merry and bright! :) I wasn't aware of Father Christmas until I grew up and now I forget until someone brings him up and then I feel a wave of holiday charm come over me. Although not as many completed as last year I do notice there is much more "Spirit of Christmas" around the Blogosphere (did I mention this already). I notice so many lovely posts about decorations and makings and simple joys.

I've really appreciated that this year. Not being easily able to "get out and about" I'm grateful for all that's brought into my home thru the friends and sharing and it makes my heart warm.
