Clouds in my coffee...

and sailing by the Valley today, assisted by 40+ MPH winds. Luckily we've had sunny skies to help us enjoy those high flying clouds. Storms seem to be the 'norm' all across the USA this past few weeks. Our usual unpredictable spring weather is late in arriving.
I had a quiet Memorial Day weekend, enjoying a homemade bread treat with friends, watching some movies including 2012, and sewing. I've finished the 48 blocks I need for the Scot's Plaid pink quilt top. Still need to size them and decide on a layout.
Lots of milestones the past couple of days...53 years ago on May 29th, I graduated high school and looked forward to college. 52 years ago on May 30th, I married someone I thought was my partner for life. And sometimes life happens while you are making other plans. Back in 1959, Memorial Day was celebrated on May 30th...period. For us, it was just the last Saturday in May. The holiday weekend was a bonus for relatives.

I lunched with Betsy today and came home with new scraps and some "starts" of sedem for my shallow flower pots. The window boxes are planted and need warm weather and sunshine to help them grow. The back seat of my car is full of boxes, empty boxes. Yes, this is the year that I will be moving from my little townhouse in the Valley. I've been here nearly 7 years, and have shared almost 6 of those years with you, my blogging friends. Things are up in the air right now.My lease isn't up until Nov. 1st and it's too soon to be applying elsewhere. But it's not too soon to be packing. There is always something to pack that won't be needed until next winter.

Oh Finn. Sorry you've got to leave your little corner of WI. Are you hoping to stay in the area or up sticks completely and move somewhere new to you?

Ha ha - the Captcha is realife!

Sounds like you have some memories associated with Memorial day, good and not so good. We had a little vacation...and it was good!! Hey, move to Texas, Finnie...we will have a blast!

I felt a clutch in my tummy when I neared the end of this post. I'm not good AT ALL with change...you won't leave 'us', will you? I feel the need for some reassurance here, please. :/ Yes, I know...the only thing that we can be sure of is CHANGE---that doesn't mean that I have to like it, right? :) Things all around feel so topsy-turvy, these last several months. Unstable air masses and my 'unsettled' mind. :) I just got an email from Meggie that her GOM died on May 30. See, I feel about her like I do you...my soul sisters. :)

Oh dear - moving! I feel like that's all I've been doing for nearly the last two years *lol*
I hope that your decision to leave your little place in the valley is solely your own and not for any other reason. If you must move, the sooner you start packing the better it will be and the more orderly the whole thing will happen. My best advices: Take your time, really assess if you want to take an item with you, you almost can't use too much packing paper and most of all label, Label, LABEL - you'll be glad you did at the other end. *hugs*

Memories do get hitched to holidays and times of the year.

Your little place has been so good to you. Seven years? Doesn't seem possible. Is the driving getting harder? This is so for me. How about a visit to FL? Maybe that would be a good move? This has been the year for me to do some thinking too and I am determined to work on sorting and eliminating.

Thanks for the great weather you are finally sending over.

As the others wrote - I hope this doesn't mean you'll also be leaving us. November may seem far off but it will be here much too soon. Please keep us informed. I have grown so fond of you through these glimpses into your life.

Hmmm, I graduated high school 42 years ago May 29! And we have lived in our home 7, well, 7 1/2 years now.

Hope your move goes smoothly, and you find what you want where you want it. You're certainly getting a good head start on the packing. I always underestimate how many boxes I will need and end up scrambling for more the day of the move! (I hate moving.)Maybe I should learn from you and pack really early.

Where are you planning to move? I've enjoyed all the interesting photos of your neighborhood

Oh, gosh. Moving? Any idea to where? I graduated 45 years ago this week and headed to college, too. First one in my family to get a college degree. Not that it made a lot of difference in my earning power. Married early on, raised my kids and worked part time. Couldn't live on my SS check nowadays. Good thing Hubby has a decent retirement pension or we'd be living with the kids.

I'm with everyone else: I hate the thought of you leaving us. But a move in real life doesn't necessarily mean leaving Blogland, does it? I shudder at the very thought of having to move again. I've done my share through the years; now I want to stay put!
