It's not easy being Green..sez Kermit, the Frog. Green..hmmmm ? How Green was my Valley? Green, green grass of home? It's Not easy being green? Haven't heard a new song about green for a long time now...wonder why? Probably people don't think about green as a thing to ponder.

I like green. Green is my favorite color. From Ireland to slime..I like green. Frogs rank very high with me but have not, at this point, invaded my quilts. Well....maybe......occasionally. And I do have a larger than average amount of fabric with frogs. Some wear top hats and other wear tutus. I like the polka dotted ones best.

I tend to like EVERYTHING done in polka dots best...LOL, but that's another story. Maybe the green thing comes from being named what I was, which means "dweller of the forest". Or maybe from being born and raised in Wisconsin. I couldn't imagine a world without green, and then I spent 10 days in New Mexico. I loved it. I love the ancientness of it..the old, dry, dustiness of it. Probably lived there in a former life.

But getting back to green, I have more green in my stash than any other color. I tend to buy blues, but rarely use them. Red ranks very high with me, as do autumn colors. Strange as it sounds I think I've only made one green "focus" quilt. Hmmmmm...time to change that I think.

Well I love Green as well - so I like your idea of making a green focus quilt! I want to see what you come up with!

You know it's funny. When I look at my stash I have way more green than anything else. And I like green but it's not my favorite or anything. I think it goes back to my early days in quilting. Late 70s early 80s. A "good" green was very hard to come by so whenever Mama or I found one we bought enough for both of us. And it got to be such a habit that we did that for years. Now I have my stash and hers to. So lots of green. I think a scrappy green and cream/tan quilt is in my near future.

I like green too.... (I actually like most cooler colors.)

Any idea for using the greens?

I love green, too, but I don't buy it a lot. I love the Hunter Green color that I used in the Heart Quilt and the Hexagon Flowers quilt.

I was actually sad to use up all of that material.

Interesting comment about it being hard to find a "good" green in the 70s and 80s. Nancy, would you tell me more?

Glad someone likes green, every colour should have its fans. I know I use a lot of greens, but having worn a school uniform for too many years that was green, I've never recovered. I continue to be "surprised" when I find how much green I use... Give me blue, or purple, or red or fuschia ...

I made my first quilt in high school...an orange and green drunkards path! Ever since I've bought green every chance. You can't have enough!

I am not a green lover but buy it all the time because it works so well with so many other colors. I don't think I own one piece of green clothing outside of my St patricks day shirt ! Now if you wrote about RED, that is a totally different story. I have red everywhere.

Hi Finn, I like green to..its soothing and restful. Oh yes, and then there are spearmint gumdrops...a favorite of mine *s*. I've worked hard today and am glad tomorrow is a 'new day with no mistakes in it' as Anne Shirley once said. I've been meaning to reread that series..better get to bed before I use the keyboard for a pillow! I just went to see if I could find the book I have about Laura Ingalls..couldn't find it but am half asleep. I'm thinking its a biography by donald zogart...can't you just tell I made up that name? Well, its something like that anyway. Have you ever read the "Leave It To Beany!" books by Lenora Mattingly Weber?
